The VR-D1 is the result of months of Research and Development with much more sophisticated ram and cold air induction systems,the end result is the VR-D1 , the simplest kit we have ever produced. We at VR choose the Green filter due to the fact that the oil used by green does not foul out mass airflow meters and uses more pleats per inch than other filter manufacturers per application giving more air filtration capacity and improved flow. The R&D program During our stint with the Duramax trucks we discovered many nuances that were common among these vehicles ,from engine cooling- the vehicles Torque management programming. We found that accelerating airflow past the MAS airflow meter beyond the throttle position caused an instant engine shut down,so you guys that rigged up ram airs,they are cold airs because once beyond 100% efficiency the engine will shut down. The air meter simply is not designed for velocity nor is the factory ecu set up for velocity beyond throttle position. This led to many a sleepless nights and much data logging. The end result 8 months and thousands of dollars latter is the very simple and very effective VR-D1 .
